Marta L. Gifford
Jewelry, WatercolorSince childhood, my twin and I always loved to create items of beauty and utility. We were always “inventing” and creating items from textiles, wood and any other item that we could turn into an “art piece”. We were motivated by our parents, siblings, relatives and the Girl Scouts of America. Since very young girls we would design and sew our own clothes, embroider, draw and work in carpentry. It is now, since my retirement, that I discovered the wonderful art of watercolor and have been able to incorporate this knowledge of color and composition into my jewelry designs.
I love painting and creating jewelry and fantasize in their beauty!
Marta Gifford incorporates her love of beauty and color and her joy of life into both her watercolors and jewelry designs.
Marta was always surrounded by a very talented family that were immersed in various forms of art. Since childhood she has continually created items of beauty and developed a mastery of art fields such as woodturning, beading, stained glass work, woodworking, drawing and more.
With motivation from a fellow artist and friend, Marta became a self-taught watercolor artist and has been painting since 2012. She is a Signature Member of the NM Watercolor Society and spends the other part of her time designing and creating jewelry of silver, natural stones and beads; an art that she wanted to learn since a young age.
