Tom Salazar
Metal SculptureMeet native New Mexican steel sculptor Tom Salazar. Tom’s artwork has been influenced by his upbringing in Bernalillo and Peña Blanca. During his early years at Bernalillo High School, many of his friends came from nearby Pueblos: Santo Domingo, Cochiti, Santa Ana, and San Felipe. These pueblo styles have influenced his style to this day.
Thirty years ago, Tom moved to Edgewood where he began to discover a new art interest in welded metal sculptures. His version of “Southwest Interpretive” and “Southwest-style Abstract” sculptures were born.
Tom has a rich connection and respect for New Mexico’s cultural influences that make his artwork what it is today.
